Speaking of Beer!

It's International Stout Day! Go drink some!!

Hydro-baby

So I'm doing my first 'gear' test for UpaDowna. My gear is a Growler. Uh-huh. A Growler.

Specifically, a 64 oz Wide Mouth Vacuum Insulated Stainless Steel Growler made by Hydro Flask.

Hydro Flask claims it'll keep your cold stuff cold for 24 hours and the hot stuff hot for 12 hours. So far, we've tested it with beer twice. For the measuring types among us, it's 5ish oz short of what a standard glass growler will hold. It kept our beer cold for about 6 hours, then started a warming trend. It never got room temp, (at least before we drank it) but it didn't stay the original temp either.

Our biggest beef so far is the carbonation issue. It starts loosing carbonation after 5-6 hours, but I don't think it's meant to be a longer-term storage vessel. Even with a glass growler, you start losing carbonation once you open it. Who keeps an open growler around anyway?

It'll keep it cold until you get up the mountain, get the tent up and the fire going and isn't that all you really need?

Currently testing it with hot water to gauge the hot chocolate/soup holding factor. Similar results so far; it originally had water too hot to leave my fingers in, and almost 6 hours later, it's still pretty warm, but not what I'd call hot. As with the cold, guessing it'll be good long enough for your peeps finish to their race, or you get it up the mountain to the campsite.

Specs on this bad boy can be seen here. $50 bucks a pop, plus shipping. Hmmmmm...

Review for UpaDowna pending before I return said vessel to Bunny.

Eddyline does the CanCan

Snagged from Eddyline's FB... Sounds like it's time for a Road Trip!

We delivered our first round of cans to the retail stores today!!! Thanks to all these great stores for supporting us. Buena Vista Stores: Little Daisy's, Rally's, La Valle's, High Peaks Liquor (JV). Salida: Party Spirits, Arlie Dale's Jug Liquors, Cellar Wine and Spirits, 4-Alarm Liquor and Roxy's Bottle Shop.

And the wheels go 'round

Rode my bike to Cocktail Class at the new place today - probably a whopping 4 mile trip. Oh well, that's why I transferred it. That and the chick in the office at the Recovery Systems place was really giving me the red ass.

[Translation] Red Ass. That's coon ass for really irritating me.

Seems I just traded one irritant for another, though. The guy teaching the class at the new place looks and sounds like an old-school Baptist preacher. I'm pretty sure he's gonna test my patience, as all religious types ultimately do.

Gack. It's only 4 more weeks. It won't kill me, right?

It'll just make me wanna drink...
